Anna Sofie Hartmann (Nakskov, Denmark. 1984) grew up in Kakskov and moved in 2005 to Berlin, where she worked for the artist Olafur Eliasson, creating among others the short film Studies For Your Mobile Expectation. A graduate of the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB), her first feature film Limbo (2014) premiered in the New Directors section of San Sebastian Festival and subsequently showed among others at the Rotterdam, SXSW and Copenhagen PIX festivals, before being nominated for the European Discovery Award at the European Film Awards in 2015. Her second feature Giraffe (2019), produced by Komplizen Film and co-produced by Profile Pictures in Denmark, premiered at Locarno Film Festival in 2019, participated in Zabaltegi-Tabakalera in San Sebastian, and screened at festivals including Mar del Plata, Thessaloniki, Copenhagen PIX and the Viennale, where it received the FIPRESCI prize. She lives in Berlin.
