The story of two alcoholics, Juan and Antonio, and their fight to keep away from booze. Both have identical families and suffer the same problems. Juan is in love with a schoolmistress in whom he seeks support and that seems to reciprocate his feelings. He loses his job due to drunkenness and Antonio, who's out from the psychiatric hospital in which he was interned after a 'delirium tremens' attack, tries to help him, and both attend AA to try to recover.
The 'gaminos' are the kids that have broken their family ties and survive in the streets of Bogotá. The difficult lifestyle and the urban agresivity to which family is subjected to at the big city's suburbs, make this kids gather in bands and embrace begging, crime and prostitution as survival methods. Ciro Durán portraits this phenomenon in the film -in his opinion, one of the major problems the colombian society faces- from some particular cases.
The film shows the social and political issues of a trascendental period in romanian people's history: 1877 Independence War. In this context, the class conflict between peasants, firm and solidary, and a wealthy-class representant, Stavrache, just focused in his own enrichment.
Leon and his wife, an old marriage, go on holidays without their daughter for the first time, who's in her hooneymoon. In every word, in every face, everywhere, even in this own friends, Leon finds loneliness. And everyday routine adquires a different meaning in a loner's mind. His mind plunges in confusion and, almost by accident, he kills his wife, fact that makes the solitary community become aware of the reality of death. Dreams, passions, hopes and dreads, hidden until now, come to light.
