Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Section dedicated to Basque cinema organised by the San Sebastian Festival and the Basque Government Department of Culture, with the sponsorship of Irizar, EiTB and Ubil, and the collaboration of the Basque Filme Archive, EPE/APV, IBAIA and Zineuskadi.
All feature films with at least 20% Basque production released worldwide as part of the San Sebastian Festival’s global programme and/or those mainly spoken in the Basque language and/or those set in or focused on Basque communities will compete for the Irizar Basque Film Award, sponsored by Irizar.
Zinemira also includes the selection of short films in the Kimuak programme, an initiative by the Basque Government Department of Culture and the Filmoteca Vasca under which the best Basque short films of the year enjoy international circulation.
The Festival and the EPE/AVE and IBAIA producers associations also present the Zinemira Award to the career of an outstanding personality from the world of Basque cinema.
