Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
“I have the feeling that all the moments in my life are coming together right now and that everything I have done and been has brought me here,” said a tearful Javier Giner at the presentation of his autobiographical series I, Addict. This was one of the highpoints in an intense press conference in which the filmmaker was surrounded by “the team of the series that he considered my new chosen family, the therapist who saved my life who is right now among you, my family, Pedro Almodóvar who is coming this afternoon... I think that in some magical way I have managed to bring you all together and celebrate that we know each other.”
I, Addict, which Giner is presenting in the Official Section, is based on the book of the same name he published in 2021. Although the book was a solo project, for its transformation into a series, its author saw that it was vital to have some “external eyes.” Aitor Gabilondo, Jorge Gil, and Alba Carballal were the screenwriters whom Giner “asked not to respect him” in order to be able to tell his story as honestly as possible.
