The San Sebastian International Film Festival is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, FIAPF www.fiapf.org, in the "competitive film festivals" category.
The San Sebastian International Film Festival seeks to make a positive contribution to the development of the film culture and industry.
The 72nd edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival will take place in the city of San Sebastian from the 20th to the 28th September 2024.
The EUSKO LABEL short film competition is an initiative organized jointly by HAZI, an instrumental entity of the Basque Government and the Festival, which aims to promote, through audiovisuals, the dissemination of positive messages related to the contribution made by the rural and coastal environment and the first sector of Euskadi to urban society. In short, the aim is to make known the importance of a living rural and coastal environment, as the basis of the model of society that we have, and in turn, to value the role and the people of the primary sector and the rural and coastal environment within this model. In other words, the idea would be the following: from the rural to the urban, adding value and promoting a sustainable development of the rural and coastal environment that recognizes the contribution it makes to balanced economic and social development.
All selected films are eligible for the two EUSKO LABEL Awards, which will have an economic endowment of 6,000 euros for the first winner and 4,000 euros for the runner-up.
The EUSKO LABEL Award will be decided by a jury constituted for this purpose, chosen by the management of the San Sebastian Festival and the Basque Government, and made up of three people, representatives from the world of gastronomy and/or local products and/or audiovisuals.
The Award may not be declared void and may not be attributed to more than one film.
The two winning short films will be announced and screened at the EUSKO LABEL Saria Award Ceremony to be held as part of the Festival.
The producers or representatives of the films that have received the award undertake to mention it in all publicity and press material concerning said film, representing the exact wording of the Jury's decision and using the Festival's logo. This logo will be available in several languages on the Festival's official website: www.sansebastianfestival.com.
The admission of short films entered for the pre-selection of the EUSKO LABEL short film competition will begin on May 10th and end on June 17th.
The registration process will be carried out online through the Festival's website.
Short films that meet the following conditions may participate in the section:
All films selected by the Festival will be presented in their original version, in Basque or Spanish. The Festival will carry out, at its own expense, an additional electronic subtitling in Basque or Spanish. The Festival will recognize the signatory of this confirmation as the sole interlocutor to negotiate all aspects related to the participation of the film in the event and as the sole responsible before other companies or persons who may have participated in the production of the film.
The confirmation by the producers or representatives of the selected film means that they will not be able to withdraw it from the program and the irrevocable acceptance of all the rules required by the Festival management.
