Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
After her success last year with O corno, winner of the Golden Shell at the Festival, Jaione Camborda is participating this year at Zinemaldia as president of the Official Section Jury. “A real honour” for this director from San Sebastian who feels that “it is like a circle that is closing”. The jury has a tough job ahead of it: watching sixteen films, a challenge that Camborda is really looking forward to: “Being on the other side makes you understand a lot about a festival.”
Camborda is quite clear about the fact that all these films must be seen on a big screen: “They are films made for the big screen, and with subtle details that can only be appreciated in film theatres.” The president of the jury praises the quality of the Festival and stresses its support for freedom of expression. She also asserts her love for cinema and life. In the end, it all comes down to this... “ saying you love cinema means saying you love life.”
Camborda acknowledges that everything changed when she won the Golden Shell. “The change has been on all levels. All the attention that my cinema has attracted; it seems to me that it is something that I should take advantage of so that I can make the films I want and maintain my freedom, and at the same time, reach a wider audience.”
