Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Wild Robot, which was presented yesterday at Perlak, is the latest film by animation maestro, Chris Sanders: “I like to work under pressure and here we had the challenge of creating an iconic character that would live on in the viewer’s memory. I think we have achieved this and hopefully it will bring many people to the cinemas as the range of emotions that we propose in this film and the quality of its soundtrack are amplified in a room”.
Actress Lupita Nyong’o, who voiced ROZZUM, the robot in the film’s title commented: “As an actress I always work to generate emotions and this time the challenge was to do this using only my voice. The story of the film itself develops from the different nuances that can be found in ROZZUM’s voice and that make us see the evolution of the character itself”. She added: “the ability to invent and pass on stories is what differentiates us humans from other animal species.” Chris Sanders, for his part, believes that “animation is one of the most efficient ways to move the audience. Don’t ask me why but that’s the way it is; the impact that a drawing or a photograph has on the human brain is greater than that produced by other artistic expressions”.
