Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Yesterday the Argentine filmmaker Martín Rejtman presented his latest black comedy The Practice in the Official Selection, accompanied by two of his actors and several producers. One of the latter, Christoph Friedel, said that it had been really difficult to raise the money for the film, “because there are people who didn’t understand the kind of humour in the film and didn’t even think that it was a comedy.” This is because a hallmark of Retjman’s films are scenes in which his characters talk in a deadpan tone. The star of the film, Esteban Bigliardi, explained that it was always a nice challenge for actors to work with Martín because you had to search for a really specific performance frequency until you find the right tune,” while actress Camila Hirane said that she also found working on this “Rejtmanian acting style” really rewarding. Rejtman confessed that he sometimes tried to get away from comedy in his projects but never quite managed it: “I always end up in this genre,” and he defined his latest film as “his most comic comedy.”
