Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Robert Lantos was co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Alliance Communications, which, under his watch, became Canada’s largest film and television production/distribution company.
As a producer, he has made some 40 feature films. Four of them– The Sweet Hereafter (Atom Egoyan, 1997), Being Julia (István Szabó, 2004) Eastern Promises (David Cronenberg, 2007), and Barney’s Version (Richard J. Lewis, 2010)– received Oscar Nominations.
At the San Sebastian Film Festival, Eastern Promises competed for the Golden Shell, Being Julia and The Song of Names (François Girard, 2019) were both in the Official Selection, out of competition, and Barney’s Version (Perlak) won the Audience Award. Crash (David Cronenberg, 1996) was included in the Incorrect@s retrospective in 2004.
Ten of his films have been in the Official Cannes Selection, where The Sweet Hereafter won the Grand Prix, and Crash won the Special Jury Prize. eXistenZ (David Cronenberg, 1999) and Museo (Alonso Ruizpalacios, 2018) were selected for Official Competition at the Berlin Film Festival, where each won a Silver Bear. In the Venice competition, both Barney’s Version and Remember (Atom Egoyan, 2015) won the Audience Award.
Robert Lantos’ television credits include the drama series Due South, Counterstrike and John Woo’s Once a Thief, and numerous made for television movies. He has won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Drama Series ten times, and Best Film four times. In 1995, he launched the specialty networks Showcase and a year later, History Television.
His most recent film is David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future (Donostia Award Screening, 2022). He is currently in production on the TV series Rise of the Raven.
