Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Produced by and starring Ricardo Darín, Argentina 1985 tells the true story of public prosecutors, Julio Strassera and Luis Moreno Ocampo, who dared to investigate and prosecute Argentina’s bloodiest military dictatorship in 1985. Director Santiago Mitre said that both he and the scriptwriter, Mariano Llinas had spent two years carrying out research on the subject before deciding to make a film with a more traditional structure that would highlight the entire process and make the audience, especially young people, aware of all the wounds that the dictatorship had left open. Mitre said that it really hurt him to see 17-yearolds who defended aspects of the dictatorship and that politicians ought to reflect on why there is so little trust in public institutions. He thinks that cinema can definitely be a great tool in winning the battle to preserve the memory of what really happened during the dictatorship, as he’s interested in films that make the audience think and face up to historical facts.
