In Corsage, the film that she presented yesterday in Perlak, the Austrian director, Marie Kreutze, presented a much more realistic vision of empress Elisabeth of Bavaria that rebelled against the myth created by the trilogy of films from the 1950s starring Romy Schneider. Although she wasn’t a monarchist, she did think that certain figures like Elizabeth or Elisabeth the 2nd transcended the institution that they represented. They lived in a gilded cage that in a certain way they tried to escape from, which revealed a free-spirited, restless nature.
