Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The 21st year of Nest, the international competition for shorts by film school students at the San Sebastian Festival, has selected thirteen films from among the 350 submitted by 160 schools in 44 countries. The chosen projects come from Brazil, China, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the United States and will compete for a prize worth 10,000 euros. Organised by the San Sebastian Festival and Tabakalera, this section presents work by students from film schools all over the world, who for five days will be able to present their shorts and attend three master classes given by three distinguished female directors who are showing their films in San Sebastian: Elena López Riera, Ruth Beckermann, and Natalia López Gallardo. They will also take part in the Film Talks with other figures from the film industry such as Giovanni Pompili, producer and president of the Horizontes Jury this year, the producer, Ariadna Dot, and Jean-Baptiste de Laubier, the composer, DJ and filmmaker.
