Ander Izagirre (San Sebastian) is a screenwriter specialised in travel and international news. He has published his works in media including El Diario Vasco, El País, Berria, CNN, Jot Down, Popoli, Pikara, Argia and Altaïr.
His books include Potosí, Plomo en los bolsillos, Los sótanos del mundo, Groenlandia cruje, Regreso a Chernóbil, El siglo de Luis Ortiz Alfau, Cansasuelos and Cómo ganar el Giro bebiendo sangre de buey.
For Potosí, a book about the Bolivian mines published in five languages, he received the Euskadi Literature Award, the English Pen Award and the Kapuscinski Award for Literary Reportage. He has also garnered other accolades, including the European Press Prize for the report “Así se fabrican guerrilleros muertos”, about the military crimes in Colombia; the Marca Sports Literature Award for his book Plomo en los bolsillos, about the Tour de France; the Manuel Alcántara Sports Journalism Award for the story “Cuando las ciclistas cambiaron de marcha”, and the Manos Unidas, La Buena Prensa, Gomis, Asociación de la Prensa de Madrid and Letras Enredadas awards for his articles in Pakistan, Greenland, Panama, Colombia, Algeria and Bolivia.
