Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Filmmaker Jaime Rosales gave the fourth masterclass yesterday as part of the Nest Film Students initiative, accompanied by his regular producer, Bárbara Díez. After the students had watched Rosales’ latest film Petra, Rosales and Díez spoke about their early years in the film world, the style of their films and other ins and outs of the profession.
Asked about his days as a film student, Rosales said that before he opted for the seventh art, he studied Engineering, Business Studies and Philosophy and Literature. As he felt the need to give free rein to his creative side, he decided to study photography, and this led to a grant to study cinema in Cuba.
