Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Bigas X Bigas is an atypical film in the sense that it’s a posthumous piece of work by a director who never filmed these images with any intention of showing them to the public. Santiago Garrido has edited the video diaries that the Catalan director recorded over the last few years of his life, that were made available to his friends after his death in 2013, in order to pay homage to him in one last film.
Javier Bardem, who coproduced the film, said that when he saw the film he felt that they had done the man who discovered him justice. He stressed that, “many of us shot scenes with him that we would never have agreed to do with any other director” and also pointed out that, “I owe every-thing to Bigas: a career, a wife and a lot of the best things that have ever happened to me in this profession”
