Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
In her fourth film, the French director Mia Hansen-Løve, takes the birth, rise and fall of French house music as a cultural expression that united an entire generation of youngsters in the 1990s to create a portrait of society by taking a specific individual reference as her starting point. “Eden is inspired by the figure of my brother and by the suffering that tormented him in his passage from adolescence to adulthood.”
Asked whether she had been inspired by other films such as 24 Hour Party People or The last days of Disco that tackle the portrayal of a specific period and place through their club music scenes, the director confessed that she had checked them out but that she had aimed for a more realistic style to try and reach something more poetic.
