Carmen Maura confesses that in the last few hours before the ceremony in which she will be presented with a Donostia Award she can’t hide the fact that she’s a bit nervous as the first Spanish actress to receive this honour. She admits that she still thinks that San Sebastian is a really nice festival, but she notes that it’s definitely becoming more and more important each year. She also jokes that she’s really spread the word about the Festival in France, and that whenever anyone asks her about it, she always tells them: “don’t hesitate to go there, the city’s beautiful and you eat really well there.”
She claims that her success is due to the fact that she’s a jack-of-all-trades. “I’ve never been very tall or very short or very pretty or very ugly, and this has enabled me to play a wide variety of roles in all kinds of films.”
