Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Born in San Sebastian, she took her first steps in the audiovisual world at the Andoain Film and Video School in Gipuzkoa. She has also participated in film workshops given by the screenwriter Michel Gaztambide and the director Jose Luis Guerín, among others.
In Berlin she followed advanced studies in Film Directing at the DFFB, Deutsche Film-und Fernsehakademie Berlin (Berlin Film and Television Academy), where she directed several short films in 16mm, 35mm and documentaries. Her graduation piece was the 35mm short Dortoka Uhartea, filmed in San Sebastian and winner of awards at several festivals worldwide.
She returned to the Basque Country after 10 years in Berlin. Maru has worked for television in the fields of production, directing and editing, in film editing and as a teacher of audiovisual media. Having recently released her first feature film as a director and co-screenwriter, Camera obscura, produced by Basque Films, she is currently working on the screenplay for a documentary and on her second feature film.
