Argentine director Milagros Mumenthaler has just made her directing debut with the feature Abrir puertas y ventanas, in which three sisters need to start a new life after the death of their grandmother, who they shared a large house with.
The director says that she has always been interested in relationships between siblings, “especially in how you grow up in the family unit in parallel to your brothers and sisters; this is what determines the role each person plays in the family, which is clearly conditioned by the roles that the others play,” and that this had been the starting point for her film.
