Two employees of the Icelandic Roads Administration, played by Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson and Hilmar Gudjónsson, spend the summer paintin g lines on the roads in the spectacular Icelandic landscape that becomes like a third character in Either Way, the debut film by director Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson, who uses this barren landscape to represent isolation and solitude. Sigurdsson explains that, “it’s important that these two men see themselves as being tiny in relation to the scale of the place.” Both actors and directors were really intrigued to see how the audience in San Sebastián would react as this was the first time their film had been screened abroad.
