The prestigious Japanese director, Hirokazu Kore-eda, who has already visited the Festival on three previous occasions, returned yesterday to present his latest film Kiseki (Miracle), accompanied by the youngsters, Koki and Oshiro Maeda, who are brothers in both his film and in real life.
The film is about two brothers who live apart and try to make their dreams come true and achieve a miracle. The director explained: “In our daily lives there are really important things that we sometimes forget about and we don’t realise how important they are. In March the tsunami meant that a lot of people lost these things. I would like to recover everything that we lost in March.”
He added that at first he thought the title was too direct,” but then I like how the audience, once they see that none of the impossible dreams come true, try to find small miracles in the film.”
Asked who the film was aimed at, he revealed that he had made it for his four-yearold daughter to watch when she was older.
