The new Culinary Zinema section has opened with Mugaritz BSO, a film that combines images,music, and gastronomy. The dishes prepared by the chef Andoni Luis Aduriz at Mugaritz inspired the music written by Felipe Ugarte, which in turn inspired the images filmed by Juantxo Sardón. The latter joined the project when the music had already been composed. He stresses how it was a great challenge,“because not only Aduriz’s cooking but also Felipe Ugarte’s music are top-quality. I had to have something more than just a simple making-of. That is why we have given a lot of importance to the visual side.”As for Aduriz, he believes that if cinema is the seventh art, then cooking must be the eighth..”
