Addicted to love by the Chinese director Lui Hao is a tender film in which love and our capacity to forget things are combined with everyday life and family matters. One day a retired Beijing factory worker meets an old friend at the market who was his first love, and they start meeting in secret.
The director explained that most of the actors in the film were nonprofessionals, and stressed that in the case of the couple in the leading roles, their performance reflected their real lives quite closely. “What I wanted to show,”the director pointed out,“is that regardless of how society changes, relations between parents and children and the family are always the most important thing in life.”
