Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Spanish film Aita was screened yesterday in the Official Section. The director José Maria de Orbe, who is actually from San Sebastián, explained at a press conference in the Kursaal that his film was highly personal and that he had aimed to try and find the essence of the huge
rambling house that his family used to have when he was a child. The house has been empty for years but the caretaker Luis Pescador takes care of its upkeep. Shot over a period of three years, the film records the conversations between Pescador and the village priest, Mikel Goenaga. It was shot in an intimate, minimalist style without a script and using natural lighting.
