Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Pilar Martínez-Vasseur has run the Nantes Spanish Film Festival since 1990 and is delighted to be forming part of the Horizontes Latinos jury in San Sebastián this year. She considers this to be a real honour and says that she has come here, “totally unbiased, with an open mind.” She wants to watch the films “like just another cinemagoer who is discovering a film, a story or a director.”Together with her two partners on the jury, she thinks that,“it’s vital to see films in a cinema, with an audience of all ages and let ourselves be carried away by how they react and then share our viewpoints between the three of us. She feels that it is the audience’s opinion that is most important and that cinema cannot be just for film buffs and experts.“You need to put yourself in the audience’s shoes, who are also looking for relaxation, entertainment, or who just want to learn something about the country that has produced the film or where the director lives.”
She confesses that she is amazed to see the public queuing up to get tickets to see all kinds of films, and how they get excited and discuss what they have seen both inside and outside the cinema.“ This really is something that makes you come back”
