Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The German director Sophie Heldman was at the Festival yesterday to present her film Satte Farben vor Schwarz which is competing in the Official Section. It reflects on life, love, freedom and death and stars Bruno Ganz and Senta Berger, who accompanied the director at the press conference she gave after the screening of her film.
Sophie Heldman confessed that she turned to these two great veteran actors, because,“ they belong to a courageous generation that has given us a lot.”She explained that,“despite the fact that advances in medicine mean we live longer, the characters reach a point in their lives when they have to take some brave decisions.” Heldman has tried to find an answer to the universal question of how we want to die. Both the main characters are very aware that they wish to end their lives together and Heldman stresses that, “life doesn’t exist without love.”
