In what looks like just the first of a slew of deals, Argentine Juan Jose Campanella’s San Sebastian Competition contender El secreto de sus ojos (The Secret of Their Eyes) has initiated international sales.
Gussi has taken Mexico, Sandrew Metronome Scandinavia. A noirish romantic thriller with a political underbelly, Eyes has also notched up deals throughout Latin America.
Sales will no doubt be aided by an excellent reception over the weekend at San Sebastian.
Latido looks likely to hold off closing further deals - unless of course it receives offers it can’t refuse - until San Sebastian closes and Argentina announces its candidate for the U.S. Academy Awards, producer Mariela Besuievsky said Sunday at San Sebastian.
