The Catalan film Màscares is being shown in the Zabaltegi section this year where it is competing for the New Directors Award. Directed by Elisabet Cabeza and Esteve Riambau, this is the second film they have brought to the Festival as their La doble vida del faquir was screened here in Zabaltegi in 2005: It shows the magician Josep María Pou preparing a show in which he plays Orson Welles.“We didn’t want to make a film about Welles or Pou; what we wanted to do was make a film about artists who work in the theatre,” the directors claimed.
