Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The director Javier Rebollo presented his second feature film La mujer sin piano at the Festival yesterday. It tells the story of Rosa, a lonely fifty-something who decides to make a break with her routine existence and run away from her taxi-driver husband, who she doesn’t really communicate with any more.On the day of the famous Azores meeting between Bush, Blair and Aznar she puts on a wig to change her appearance and ends up at the bus station where she strikes up a friendship with a young Pole.
Rebollo explained that the film could be interpreted in various ways. It could be considered to be a love story between Rosa and the Pole, or it could be interpreted as an attack on the War in Iraq. It may even be a critique of new technologies: Rosa is unable to pick up a package at the post office because her ID is out of date, and she can’t phone her son because he hasn’t got coverage on his mobile.
