Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Martina Gusman Urruti is an Argentinian film producer who is visiting the Festival for the first time. Two of her films are being screened here this year: La Rabia and Leonera. The latter is not only directed by Pablo Trapero, her husband; she herself also acts in the leading role. She’s delighted to be forming part of the Official Jury: “I feel that San Sebastián is establishing itself as the benchmark Festival for films in Spanish".
What she looks for in a film is sonmething that moves her, regardless of whether it’s the acting, the photography or the story. “The films that I’ve seen up to now at the Festival have been impressive and I feel that the level is really high. It’s an incredible experience being a juror and there’s a great atmosphere among the group” she points out.
She stresses how importnant festivals are: “They offer a meeting place for different branches of the industry: producers, distributors, and sales agents, and they give you the chance to see films that otherwise you wouldn’t be able to watch in your own country. As for independent films, festivals are a meeting point where you can try to find the financial structure you need to make projects a reality".
