Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
This is not the first time that Federico Veiroj, the Uruguayan director of Acné, has visited the Festival as he took part last year in Films in Progress 12 where he won the TVE prize that enabled him to finish off this film. “It’s a pleasure to come back to San Sebastián with the finished film and to be able to screen it in the Latin Horizons section,” he stressed. Acné deals with the sexual and amorous awakening of a teenage boy. The original idea for the film came from his elder brother who had been writing the story of a family saga from a father’s perspective, when it suddenly occurred to Veiroj that he could make a short film from the son’s point of view with the main inspiration being provided by his own family.
A new initiative based on the Zabaltegi get-togethers called Horizon Breakfasts was started up yesterday at 11 AM in the Press Club in the Kursaal to bring together journalists and the producers, actors and directors responsible for films in the Latin Horizons section in a relaxed setting where they can exchange opinions.
