Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Pathe already runs highflying French (Welcome to the Sticks) and U.K. (The Duchess) production ops. Tisne has just joined Pathe as director, intl. production at Pathe Productions, aiming to power up productions in the rest of the world,working from a newly-created international production department.
He’ll be in San Sebastian Friday to Monday “to see finished films from new talent and established Spanish directors. And to meet producers, film commissions and directors to discuss co-productions where we could get involved”, he says.
Tisne’s no neophyte in Spain. As a former aquisitions maven at Alliance Films, he bought for top Spanish indie distributor Aurum. Rolling of Pathe’s distribution relationship on Pedro Almodovar’s films, which dates back to All About My Mother, Pathe has picked up international on Competition player El patio de mi cárcel.
And - focusing on projects, not acquisitions of completed films, he stresses - Tisne can bring a lot to the table: distribution in France in the U.K. and France, production coin, and a strong international sales.
“We’d like to find directors before they go to the U.S. to offer a half-way measure. If they’re ambitious and want to make big films, they don’t just have to think about Hollywood”, he concludes.
