Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Alberto Elena (Madrid, 1958) is a Professor of Film History and the History of Science at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He previously taught at the National Open University (Madrid) and was a Research Fellow at the New School for Social Research (New York). He is Editor of "Secuencias. Revista de Historia del Cine" and a member of the Editorial boards of "New Cinemas", "Otrocampo" and "Archivos de la Filmoteca". He has organised various film festivals and he has been a member of the jury at several international festivals (Berlin, Guadalajara, Ouagadougou...). His publications include "Cinema in the Third World. Dictionary of filmmakers" (1993), "Cinema and Islam" (1995), "Satyajit Ray" (1998), "Peripheral cinema (Africa, Middle East, India)" (1999), "Science, cinema and history" (2002, at the press) and "Abbas Kiarostami" (2002, at the press), as well as his contributions to "General History of Cinema" (1995-1998; published by Domínguez & Talens), the "History of World Cinema" (1999-2001; pub. Brunetta) and numerous specialised magazines.
