When 9-year-old Stanley discovers the clothes of his dead father, Hy, on the railroad tracks, his curiosity leads him to an old rowboar where Hy shares with him the mysteries of the afterlife. Taking Hy is a haunting and lyrical elegy that explores a young Jewish boy's struggle to cope with the loss of his father.
