After losing his job, young lwyer Leo Harrigan runs into a independent producer who is trying to survive on the battleground generated by the arrival of cinema, when the big companies are intent on monopolising the new invention. The producer in question, H. H. Cobb, send him to a small viallge not far from Los Angeles to find one of his crews who have gone stray.
