16-year-old Rocky Dennis is afflicted with a degenerative disease that is disfiguring his head and face. Only his mother's deep love for him, and the friendship of a gang of Hell's Angels who accompany him everywhere partially compensate for his despondency. Unusually intelligent, the boy is unable to fulfil his dream of travelling through Europe on a motorbike.
