Gino, a widower who lives in Nevada and raises cattle, decides to marry again, to the sister of his deceased wife, Gioia. Gioia, who used to live in Italy, is slowlu getting used to her new life with Gino while she learns English with his adoptive son, Bene. Gioia, on her birthday, gets angry with Gino when she discovers that he has tamed a wild horse that she fancied. To make matters worse, Gino, while toasting to her, makes the mistake and uses his first wife's name. That same night, Gioia refuses to sleep with Gino who , angry, leaves home for two weeks. When he returns, Gioia and Bene have fallen in love.
