A fairly authentic picture of Madrid low-life. the naturalistic style of the woek is slightly lessened by the black humor implanted by its makers.
The fact that this film has been said to give a simplistic and contemptous view of human reality cannot take away form its having considerable success among the public and among independent critics at the time of its Spanish premiere. The film is in the tradition of Italian neorealism.
