The "rumble fish" is an exotic fish whose aggressiveness is so great that it attacks itself. If you place a mirror in front of a "rumble fish", it attacks its own image in a ceremony of confusion carried out by thoughtlessness.
In a small village located anywhere, the film tells us about the complex relationships between criminal brothers. One, Rusty James, partially deaf and colorblind, is like Pinocchio, he is that bad boy in all of us, but in spite of him he is a warm and loving person. Mike, his other brother, is a very difficult character, because he represents what all of us unknown to us carry inside and that makes us be another person. Mike is a poet, dreamer and living myth, a kind of Adonis with a lazy smile. However he looks like he comes from the dead. He is something of an unexpected visitor. His contemporaries acclaim him as an idol from the Californian dream.
