Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The film tells the story of Tasio, who was born in a town located at the foot of the Sierra de Urbasa.
At the age of 8, and due to family needs, Tasio began working in the bush.
At 14, following the old tradition of the place, he became a charcoal burner.
At that same age, at the town dance, he met Paulina, who years later would become the woman of his life. The wedding was celebrated with some haste and great joy.
Very soon Elisa is born.
From that moment on, Tasio is forced not only to continue making charcoal, an activity in which he is already an expert, but also to work as a fisherman and poacher. Thanks to which, the guard of the area ends up becoming his cordial enemy.
One day, when he had precisely achieved one of his great dreams, lassoing a huge wild boar, he receives the news that Paulina is seriously ill. Perhaps that is one of the most difficult moments for Tasio. They insist that he must change his life and settle into a steady job like other men.
Tasio refuses. The rare and deep sense of his personal freedom prevails. Even years later, when her daughter announces that she must marry hastily and leave town to live with her husband in the capital, she will decide that he is not budging from the charcoal burner, nor from poaching, nor from his old cordial enmity with the area guard.
