There is a Spanish phrase that expresses the mental attitude of the protagonist. "He has retired to his winter quarters."
He is young, he has a woman he loves, but his attitude resembles that of the old men in Samuel Becket's Endgame, who wait without hope for his disappearance.
However, his mind betrays him, his fantasy that he imagines and dreams, which makes him leave the daily mausoleum of his house, to find himself in the dream with the same characters who try to give him, demand or ask him to account. Headphones that clog music, ears that want to become deaf to the word, are of no use to isolate themselves.
His sick mind is revealed, in the drawings he creates, as an artist without a contract, and in which his humunculi are devoured by objects that turn into ferocious piranhas.
That strange happiness that he seeks, because like Godard's character, between sorrow and nothingness, chooses nothingness, perhaps it culminates when constant wakefulness and unconscious sleep coincide in a scream in a desert that symbolizes the total stripping of the "I".
