Synopsis

Lola, who is seven years old, is seriously ill. At her bedside the doctor tells her father, Salvador, that she will only be saved from her if she undergoes an expensive operation. The life of her daughter or her honor is what she has to decide on this sad afternoon. A childless couple, Lorenzo and Marcelina, offer to pay. Salvador after doubts accepts, when the girl is out of danger he gives her up for adoption, but not before telling her that he is not her real father. Her parents are now rich, and her brothers, who have become mere cousins, refuse to play with her. Lola is bored. Years go by, and on the occasion of Lorenzo's birthday, Lola dedicates a love poem to him. Marceline dies. The real parents, for what they will say, tell Lola the reality, and they want her to return to her real family. Lorenzo leaves for a trip. Lola at Marcelina's grave establishes a complicity with her: "be happy mom, I'm staying to guard our man's house."

When Lorenzo returns, Lola proposes that they get married. A white marriage. They will continue to behave like father and daughter. Two years pass. One day Lorenzo tells her that he wants her. She refuses. The next night she will accept it. The next day Lola and Salvador are going to visit Lola's family, taking a horseback ride. At a certain moment Lola tells Salvador: "I love you so much dad."
