Mamma Roma is a prostitute who dreams of a petty-bourgeois welfare. After the wedding of his protector, he moved with his son Héctor to a decent neighborhood, where he runs a fruit stand in the popular market. Héctor is a boy of weak and influential character who lets himself be dragged by friends and falls in love with Bruna, a girl who starts him in the secrets of love.
