This year, the European Film Forum Conference in San Sebastian will highlight the increasing importance of cooperation of the value chain in the European audiovisual industry at all levels, from financing the creative process to its distribution and promotion.
The first panel, dedicated to new financing and collaboration models, will present case studies to illustrate the possibilities of combining different sources of public and private financing and how a European instrument like the Creative Europe guarantee facility and, in the future, InvestEU, can help the European audiovisual industry to finance its activities. The use of new technologies, such as blockchain, strongly incentivised by Zinemaldia & Technology*, may add value in this respect.
The second panel, focused on co-distribution and co-production, will more specifically shed light on how an increasingly competitive collaboration environment may notably help European works to increase their audiences across the world, through the support of co-production funds.
*Zinemaldia & Technology 2019 will take place on 22 September, also within the ambit of the European Film Forum.
