Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Films in Progress 26 will take place on September 22, 23 and 24 in the frame of the 62nd San Sebastian Festival.
This twice-yearly event organised by the San Sebastian Festival and Cinélatino, Rencontres de Toulouse, has the objective of contributing to the completion of Latin American feature films at the post-production stage and promoting their international distribution. The feature films must run for over 60 minutes and be totally or partially produced by Latin American countries.
Films in Progress and the III Europe-Latin American Co-production Forum will once again take place on the same dates, thereby highlighting the objectives of both activities: to boost audiovisual production and to strengthen the Latin American and European industries by fostering cooperation between professionals and the opening out towards new international markets.
In recent years Films in Progress has made a remarkable contribution to the completion and distribution of some of the most prominent Latin American feature films. Two films presented at Films in Progress 24 have gone on to enjoy important international repercussion: Matar a un hombre (To Kill a Man), by Alejandro Fernández Almendras landed awards at the Sundance, Rotterdam, Miami and Fribourg festivals, while Historia del miedo (History of Fear), by Benjamín Naishtat competed in the Official Selection at the Berlin Festival.
Films in Progress 26 includes the Films in Progress Industry Award. The companies Daniel Goldstein S.L., Deluxe Spain, Dolby Iberia, Laserfilm Cine y Video, Nephilim Producciones, No problem Sonido, and Vértigo Films will assume the post-production of a film until achieving a DCP subtitled in English and its distribution in Spain.
