As if moved by the wind and chance, the bell of the hermitage of San Pelayo begins to ring insistently. This hermitage stands in the center of a wide valley. Attracted by the rhythmic and continuous ringing of the bell, the santero arrives and finds that it rings by itself. From the river that is born in that same place the water flows stained with blood.According to an ancient tradition, these are signs through which the saint in whose evocation the hermitage is raised asks to come and tell stories, through them to ward off a danger that threatens the region. The santero summons several local people, who, gathered for a whole night around the fire in the hermitage, tell stories about San Pelayo.

A writer is commissioned to write a script about sexism. The director tells Oscar that the film should serve to make those who see it aware of his sexism. Oscar goes to the port of Havana to elaborate among the workers the basis of the argument. Lina is a surprisingly empowered and politically sensitive worker. The writer, who is married, falls in love with her, creating a strong personal conflict for her. While the work is being developed, Oscar discovers some realities that are interesting to him and wants to include them in the script. However, the director disagrees. He starts from a preconceived scheme and wants cinema to get closer to reality. He will not carry out his project. And it will be seen that Oscar, despite the fact that he is aware of what sexismis, will be "up to a certain point." The theme of the film is therefore a conglomerate of the different points of view between men and women, intellectuals and workers, bureaucrats and trade unionists.

The cruelest and most refined method that the human mind has invented to repress its political enemy is that of "disappearance." Everything is absence is described through the story of five women with "disappeared" relatives, the deep drama and pain that means not knowing if loved ones are alive or dead, or what happened to them through the hours, days, the years of uncertainty.

Two men, in the manner of wandering knights, travel through the most remote corners, the most remote places in the Sierra de Durango, carrying a projector and rolls of film in their truck to carry through the cinema, a show to fulfill their beautiful job as "dream dealers". More than entertainment, these films become role models, as a lifestyle that works as an element of national cohesion: The valiant but romantic 'Charro', the frivolous and also self-sacrificing party, the love frustrations, everything projected in the semi-darkness of an improvised room, school, factory or outdoors.Walking these trails, these two men know love, they face danger and tragedy, but they also know a supreme value in life: friendship and solidarity in the face of misfortune.
