Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Ikastetxeak Belodromoan is an initiative of the San Sebastian Festival, the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) and the Basque Film Archive, whose aim is to bring cinema and science closer to primary school students in Gipuzkoa.
Since 2019, the initiative has brought together more than 13,000 children aged between 6 and 11 every year at the Velodrome, from 80 schools across the territory. They have the opportunity to experience cinema in one of the Festival’s main venues.
Under the motto San Sebastian. City of Cinema, City of Science, the sessions combine a film screening with a presentation specially designed for school audiences, as well as a range of activities and surprises aimed at sparking their curiosity and interest in both cinema and science. The initiative thus seeks to offer an entertaining and educational experience that allows participants to discover the connections between the two fields.
Ikastetxeak Belodromoan is part of the San Sebastian Festival’s commitment to bringing cinema closer to new generations and fostering film culture among children and young people.
