The San Sebastián Festival and the Basque Film Archive will be offering more than 120 screenings of classic cinema in Klasikoak
The initiative takes the form of a classic film festival that will be extended in time, between April and September, and in space, with screenings in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Bilbao, San Sebastián, Pamplona and Saint-Jean-de-Luz
Klasikoak will recover ‘The Red Angel’ (Yasuzo Masumura), ‘Aloïse’ (Liliane de Kermadec), ‘Fúria espanyola’ (Francesc Betriu), ‘Record of a Tenement Gentleman’ (Yasujiro Ozu), ‘Nueve reinas’ (Fabián Bielinsky) and ‘Principio y fin’ (Arturo Ripstein)
The section will also feature the premieres of two hitherto unseen films: ‘Festival en las entrañas’, by José Val del Omar, and ‘El realismo socialista / Socialist Realism’, by Raúl Ruiz and Valeria Sarmiento
The Artxiboa website includes a virtual exhibition that reflects Val del Omar's relationship with the Festival through his correspondence
