34-year-old Pamela is a small, shy woman. She works in a supermarket. She attends a religious temple. She periodically visits her autistic mother. An anonymous character, a meaningless life. Suddenly, a miracle occurs. Messages of a marvellous destiny start to reach Pamela in unusual ways: a client, a transvestite, her own mother, dreams, barcodes, real and imaginary signals. The Saviour of the Next Millennium is apparently on his way and everything indicates that she, being a virgin, is carrying him in her entrails. Impelled to face herself, Pamela undertakes an inner voyage. A paradoxical voyage: the more mystic she grows, the more human she becomes.

A German named Johann arrives with his truck to a small city lost in the hinterlands of North-East Brazil in the 40s. The German wants to conquer the interior with the sale of the product he is carrying - thousands of bottles of a new medicine called Aspirin - and hires Ranulpho?s services as a guide. He also uses the help of the century?s greatest invention, a movie projector showing the therapeutical effects of the medicine. Johann has arrived here escaping from the nightmare of war, leaving his entire family behind. For his part, Ranulpho sees in this new job the chance to escape from poverty and move to the rich southern part of the country.

Enlightened by Fire narrates the memories of a 40 year-old man, Esteban Leguizamon, who was sent to fight in the Falkland Islands in 1982 at the age of 18. A friend?s attempted suicide triggers memories of war experiences shared with two young privates: Vargas, the suicide, and Juan, killed on the battlefield. Thus, not only the horrors of war itself, but the ailments of hunger and cold weather interweave with the stories of friendship and fellowship. Seen from Esteban?s point of view, the movie shows the slow and gradual immersion of their fragile lives into the heart of death itself. 20 years after the war, Esteban decides to return to the Islands to come to terms with his past and heal old wounds.

Two brothers and their uncle Jesús, a kind of adoptive father, meet again after five years. 24 hours including Cucú?s birthday and Malboro?s first day of freedom. The celebration of all three being back together again, the search of a love that doesn?t forget and isn?t cured, the doubt of an unsolved betrayal, which is even more painful than prison. The strange sensation of being atrocious rather than being scared, rather than having limits, of always walking on the edge, of being kings for a day and a night, until another day dawns.

In a small isolated town swept by torrential rains, the inhabitants live not only in misery, but also under merciless political repression. A war for power rages between the family holding economic control over the region and the strongman sent over by the central government. To make things worse, anonymous messages are posted on doors, exposing scandalous details of private lives. In the midst of this chaos, passion, betrayal and revenge come out into the open, and nobody can distinguish any more between truth and lies. Based on the Gabriel García Márquez novel La Mala Hora, the film tells a tale of love and hatred where past and future become blurred.

During a long night like any other, full of routine pick-ups and petty dealings, Victor, a street boy barely out of adolescence will come face to face with unexpected growing threats: strangers prowl around waiting for him, an accident is barely avoided, a friend tries to kill him after making love, and finally the madness, the supernatural power, but also the tenderness of a young woman in love from beyond the grave. Before sunrise, Victor will have learned that love, something to which his youth has been blind, can strike back, perhaps even to kill him. An initiation ceremony in nightmare key, the hours of darkness will leave him a little less unsensitive; and at least marked from an early age.

The action takes place at Easter in the beach house belonging to a family of architects. Marco is a 21 year-old student of architecture and son of a renowned, self-centred architect. Both have a competitive relationship which Soledad, Marco?s mother, constantly tries to keep under control. The family is nervously waiting for the arrival of Sofía, Marco?s first official girlfriend, about whom they know very little. The neighbouring houses have also received visits from a number of Marco?s friends: Aldo, a wealthy legal student who has convinced his classmate Pedro to join him at the beach, and the beautiful, insolent and reserved Rita who has decided to spend these days alone. Events oblige Marco?s mother to return to Santiago. Sofía?s arrival upsets the balance: she turns up with a load of drugs and a disturbing erotic intensity which, by Marco?s mother?s return on Easter Sunday, will have caused irreversible changes in the family and rest of the characters.
