Poland, 1939. Comedy of intrigue centered on the members of a theatrical company representing "Hamlet" and dress rehearsing for their next opening, a play about nazi Germany. A second string actor wants to demonstrate his likeness to Hitler, whom he must act, so goes for a awalk in costume and provokes considerable confusion. The story is fictional, but set during the invasion of Poland.
